A big thank you

Blog > A big thank you

During some very difficult times, lots of challenging decisions have been made and tough processes completed. It is important to recognise everyone that make these moments easier to get through.

After an incredibly stressful week, we’d like to send our most heartfelt appreciation to our UK staff, partners and resort team in The Gambia who worked tirelessly to get over 1,000 holidaymakers home as quickly as possible, and also to our customers for their patience and kind comments which kept our staff going

Having operated seven flights back to the UK over the weekend, we’re happy to announce that we have successfully repatriated all our customers we were able to get in contact with, who are now safely at home with their families.

We understand that it wasn’t always smooth sailing; we were dealing with a very fast-moving situation with flights and information changing daily, but our team – both in the UK and in resort – did their absolute best to keep everyone up to date. If anyone has missed our repatriation communications, the British High Commission in The Gambia have asked that individuals email ukinthegambia@fco.gov.uk with details of who is stranded, or fill out the contact form on the High Commission website: www.gov.uk/contact-consulate-banjul.

Sadly, we will no longer be able to offer flights or holidays to The Gambia between 23rd March and 22nd June 2020. We understand how upsetting losing a holiday can be and will do our utmost to accommodate your requirements. If you are booked to travel with us during this time, rest assured that we will be in touch with you to discuss your options.

We are now living in unprecedented times, and sincerely hope that we’ll be able to start sending people on unforgettable holidays again soon. As we’re all undoubtedly in need of some sun, sea and sand to look forward to, we will continue to send you inspirational emails that can hopefully keep spirits high and give you something to look forward to throughout these uncertain times.

We have been inundated with lovely comments from both customers we have repatriated and other stranded tourists we helped home, which kept us going through some very stressful times, and for that we are truly grateful. Here are just some of the lovely comments we received:

"Big up to @GambiaXperience for getting us Brits back from The Gambia when all other tour operators failed us. Thanks again."

"So grateful to @GambiaXperience for everything they’ve done at this super stressful time. Can’t wait to rearrange our trip when it’s safe to do so."

"I’d like to say a big thank you and well done to Joyce and her excellent team for the calm efficient experience at Banjul Airport yesterday. It was extremely well handled without fuss or panic. Thank you so much and I hope to fly with you again very soon."

Thank you again to all our customers, partners and staff, both in the UK and The Gambia, for their incredible support. Stay safe and we hope to see everyone soon.
