This beachfront hotel is one of our most popular – and for good reason. Find out all the reasons you should stay at Kombo Beach Hotel on your next holiday to The Gambia.
A combination of friendly, smiling staff, a vibrant atmosphere and sought-after location right on Kotu Beach has made Kombo one of the most popular hotels in The Gambia, with many of our customers returning there year after year.
Here, we take a look at the hotel's best bits, and all the reasons why you’d enjoy a holiday there in 2021 and beyond.
1. The beach is on your doorstep
Kombo Beach is perfect for anyone looking to get a healthy dose of sun, sea and sand. It's set directly on Kotu beach, a lovely, wide stretch of golden sand backed by palm trees and dotted with hotels and restaurants.
Although it can get rather busy, there's plenty of sunloungers and parasols for you to use should you feel like kicking back and soaking up the rays.
After a day lazing by Kombo's pool, take a stroll along the beach at sunset, and watch the smouldering African sun sink into the sea. Paradise!

2. There’s plenty to do during the day
Whatever you're into, you’ll find activities to suit you at Kombo Beach Hotel.
If you like to keep active, join in with pool games, beach volleyball or aerobics or take some tennis lessons. There's room for relaxation too; treat yourself in the on-site beauty salon, or grab a sunlounger by the pool and get lost in a book.
Kombo also offers guests the chance to do some birdwatching in the tropical gardens with the hotel's resident guide. The hotel's location within easy walking distance of Kotu Stream means there's plenty of exotic birdlife to look out for. Bring your binos!

3. You’ll be entertained each night
When the sun sets and evening rolls in, grab a fruity cocktail and settle down to enjoy the nightly entertainment put on by the hotel.
Listen to an African drumming troupe, be amazed by some of The Gambia’s most talented dancers, or dance along to the tunes of a local reggae band – each evening at Kombo Beach Hotel holds a completely different entertainment experience.

4. The location in Kotu is ideal
Not too busy, but not too quiet, Kotu is a great alternative to livelier Kololi if you're looking for a little more peace and quiet.
The resort is home to some excellent hotels, with Kombo dominating the beachfront. Be sure to visit the bustling craft market, which you can find souvenir-worthy batiks and beautiful wood carvings, and sample the handful of good restaurants and bars along the beachfront.

5. They're doing their bit for the planet
In their first step to going plastic-free, Kombo Beach Hotel has now stopped selling water in plastic bottles.
Instead, they sell reusable aluminium bottles which can be refilled in any outlet with filtered water – at half the price of a plastic bottle of water – saving money and the planet.
