An oasis of luxury in The Gambia
Whitewashed Moorish architecture framed by colourful pink bougainvillea sweep down towards a golden sandy beach – welcome to Coco Ocean Resort & Spa. This impressive hotel offers guests a tranquil oasis whereby you can enjoy beautiful green lawns, a refreshing three-tiered swimming pool, a superb spa and a fantastic stretch of unspoilt coastline. While for many guests, the main attraction of Coco Ocean is the fantastic spa facilities, the hotel’s stunning location on an unspoilt stretch of beach just 2.5 km from the lively resort of Kololi, as well as its extensive choice of unique suites, make this far more than just a spa hotel.
Unsurprisingly a popular choice for repeat customers as well as visiting dignitaries, Coco Ocean’s sophisticated sense of luxury can be found throughout the hotel, with its ornate interiors, imaginative use of colour and light and beautifully elegant variety of guest rooms, all of which boast excellent facilities. Every little feature has been thought out extensively, from the grandeur of the Moroccan-inspired architecture to the subtle positioning of sunloungers.
Comfort and rejuvenation await
Set within lush tropical gardens, all the open-plan suites and villas are light and airy, but for added comfort we recommend one of the sumptuous room upgrades. There are four Royal Suites each with its own private plunge pool, with Royal penthouses above (a Royal suite and penthouse can be booked together for larger groups but are self-contained units). The 14 Club villas sit in two rows, with impressive private outside relaxation areas; but for the best location in the hotel try one of the three Beach houses, which are extremely spacious and sit directly on the beachfront. These, along with Club villas and Royal suites, have use of the exclusive, beachfront second pool which is flanked by cabanas for added comfort.
The ultimate in relaxation
If you’re in need of a break from relaxing in a private cabana along Bijilo Beach, head to the hotel’s renowned spa where you can experience a whole host of treatments. A place where you can completely relax and rejuvenate, Coco Ocean's impressive 1800sq metre adult-only spa boasts a serene and calming atmosphere throughout, where subtle scents of aromatherapy linger in the air. A steam room, sauna, fitness room and ice plunge pool are also available for guests to use at your leisure, and it’s here that you will discover the Thalassotherapy pool. Remember, Gambia Experience guests receive a 10% discount on all full priced individual treatments, so don’t miss out!
Guests can enjoy a choice of restaurants on-site, and the resort of Kololi offers further options only a five-minute taxi ride from the hotel. Tempting menus featuring Thai, international and traditional African cuisine can be sampled in either the Courtyard/Safran or Coco Beach restaurants, one offering à la carte breakfasts and al fresco or covered dining with a backdrop of illuminated fountains and soft music, the other providing beachfront lunches with a Thai menu by night. Fresh ingredients are used wherever possible, many from the hotel’s own gardens, while the international chefs strive to create imaginative and memorable meals for Coco’s guests.
