Our Expert Opinion

"I loved Tamala’s fantastic vibe and modern beachfront design. The welcoming entrance, palm tree-lined courtyard, wonderful dining areas, and cool pool, especially the swim-up guest rooms, are a real treat."

- Louise, PR

What we love

  • Sunday afternoons, when you can enjoy an amazing buffet and live band at the popular beach restaurant.
  • Tamala has the most wonderful location and the sea view rooms (pool access or first floor) are built ON the beach.

Good to know

  • It's adult only, with no children under 16 allowed in the property.
  • The hotel offers all-inclusive buffet-style dining, but an à la carte menu is also available for an additional charge.

A superb, adult-only property

Located close to South Kotu and fronting the golden sands of Kotu Beach, Tamala Beach Resort boasts a central palm tree-lined courtyard with its gorgeous pool, ideal for a refreshing swim. As an adult-only property with an on-site spa and ample choice of treatments, Tamala Beach makes for the perfect couple’s retreat.

Set up as an all-inclusive resort, the hotel offers buffet-style dining with a new à la carte restaurant by the beach offering views towards the ocean. A range of daytime activities such as water aerobics and yoga are on offer, with fitness classes and a well-equipped gym. Alternatively, choose to relax by the enticing pool, or soak up the African sunshine from a sunlounger on the sands directly outside the hotel.

The rooms are modern with a good range of amenities, combining calming colours with an African twist. Some offer a sea view and, for that extra special experience, a number of premium swim-up rooms are available.

About the Local Area (South Kotu)

This is a resort area that has developed over the past few years with some new hotels, and a small selection of bars and restaurants. There are a number of popular bars and restaurants including Italian and an ice-cream parlour on the road leading down to the beach, along with a couple of beach bars.

The slightly larger resort of Kotu is across Kotu stream, reached via a gentle stroll along the beach or with a short taxi ride. It boasts some popular hotels, with Kombo Beach dominating the beachfront. There's also the quieter charm of Bakotu Hotel and the beautiful gardens of Bungalow Beach Aparthotel. The area also has a busy and boisterous craft market in which you can find batiks and all manner of superb wood carvings. Kotu has a number of good restaurants, alternatively Kololi with its wider choice is just 10 minutes' drive from South Kotu. There's also a golf course nearby.

Beaches

A wide, sandy beach which is fairly flat and ideal for a walk either down to Kololi or across Kotu stream to the hotels in the neighbouring resort of Kotu.
