A popular and friendly hotel, Palma Rima is a great choice for couples and families looking for an activity filled holiday.

What we love

  • The enormous pool! It's one of the biggest in The Gambia and perfect for cooling off or enjoying pool games.
  • The hotel offers many daytime activities, and evening entertainment.

Good to know

  • This hotel is located just a short walk from the sandy South Kotu Beach and a selection of bars and restaurants.
  • It is worth considering an upgrade to a spacious bungalow which are dotted around the gardens.

One of the largest swimming pools

Boasting one of the biggest swimming pools in The Gambia, this is certainly a focal point of the hotel and provides plenty of space for a refreshing dip or game of water volleyball. Surrounded by large sun terraces and umbrellas, guests can unwind and soak up the glorious African sunshine. Just a short walk away is South Kotu Beach, a popular spot with holidaymakers. Feel the sand between your toes and be sure to stop at Luigi’s ice-cream parlour on the way!

Spacious accommodation

We offer rooms either facing the pool in the main building or bungalows, which are refurbished and spacious. Dotted throughout the lush gardens, each bungalow room sleeps up to four guests and has patio doors that open out onto a small terrace.

Wide array of activities

Guests at Palma Rima will never be short of things to do. As well as the large swimming pool and separate pool for children, the hotel offers many daytime activities, including: water aerobics, table tennis, chess, darts and volleyball. A sociable, informal atmosphere also continues into the evening, where guests can enjoy the local entertainment or make the most of the hotel’s own bar.

Located midway between the tourist areas of Kotu and Kololi, you are only a short taxi ride away from a wider selection of restaurants and bars, should you fancy a change of scenery.

About the Local Area (South Kotu)

This is a resort area that has developed over the past few years with some new hotels, and a small selection of bars and restaurants. There are a number of popular bars and restaurants including Lebanese and an ice-cream parlour on the road leading down to the beach, along with a couple of beach bars.

The slightly larger resort of Kotu is across Kotu stream, reached via a gentle stroll along the beach or with a short taxi ride. It boasts some popular hotels, with Kombo Beach dominating the beachfront. There's also the quieter charm of Bakotu Hotel and the beautiful gardens of Bungalow Beach Aparthotel. The area also has a busy and boisterous craft market in which you can find batiks and all manner of superb wood carvings. Kotu has a number of good restaurants, alternatively Kololi with its wider choice is just 10 minutes' drive from South Kotu. There's also a golf course nearby.

Beaches

A wide, sandy beach which is fairly flat and ideal for a walk either down to Kololi or across Kotu stream to the hotels in the neighbouring resort of Kotu.
