A well-established hotel boasting a friendly atmosphere and beachfront location, Ocean Bay Hotel has long been a favourite of holidaymakers in The Gambia.

Our Guest's Opinion

"This was our seventh visit to Ocean Bay, so yes we like it a lot! Highlights were a very nice suite, probably the best pool in The Gambia, friendly staff and the lovely Cape Point beach."

- Mr Jeffcot

What we love

  • The range of activities on offer, including table tennis, water aerobics and massage and beauty treatments (payable locally).
  • The impressive lobby, bar and restaurant areas, offering tasty buffets and a Mediterranean/Asian à la carte alternative.

Good to know

  • Deluxe rooms offer a better quality of accommodation with tea & coffee-making facilities. Our guests will receive this room type at no extra charge, although an upgrade to a full sea view is also available.
  • The beach outside Ocean Bay Hotel is one of the best in The Gambia.

Beachfront relaxation

On entering Ocean Bay Hotel's reception area and restaurant you will be struck by the beautifully designed, galleried ceilings creating light and airy spaces. The large pool area at Ocean Bay Hotel remains a focal point for activities and evening entertainment, surrounded by sunloungers, parasols and a shaded seating area. You’ll discover an air of tranquillity throughout the hotel’s lush gardens, while the long, sandy beach, accessed directly from the hotel, is one of the finest in The Gambia.

We offer larger deluxe rooms as standard for our customers which are located closer to the ocean and provide additional facilities including a private balcony; why not upgrade to a sea view room for a vista over the expanse of golden sand?

Dining at Ocean Bay

During the day, the pool bar with pizza oven provides an inviting lunchtime snack, and there’s also the choice of two restaurants; one serving buffet-style breakfast, lunch and dinner, including Gambian delicacies, and the beachside Buddha Restaurant & Lounge serving beautifully presented sushi as well as other Asian and international dishes.

Why not try a cocktail from one of the hotel bars, or a lemongrass iced tea for which it's well known? There are also themed evenings scheduled during winter, with entertainment including shows by the resident animation team and live bands to appeal to all the family. A small spa can be found on site for a touch of pampering.

Out and about

In the vicinity, there are a couple of other hotels, local bars, small restaurants including Calypso where crocodile viewing is possible, shops and a craft market all within easy reach.

About the Local Area (Cape Point)

With its excellent beach and conference centre at the Ocean Bay Hotel this area now has great appeal. There are a small number of restaurants and bars here along with craft stalls, mini-market and taxi rank. Calypso bar and restaurant is situated next to the hotel with a small lake often allowing you to view crocodiles. Bakau is a 10 minute walk from here.

Beaches

A wide, sandy beach. Groynes have been built to stop any erosion of the sand.
