Encounter African wildlife up close at Fathala Wildlife Reserve

Fathala Wildlife Reserve is located within 5,000 acres of a 15,000 acre national reserve near Karang in the Sine Saloum South region of Senegal, near the border between The Gambia and Senegal. It is like a glimpse into West Africa’s past, where rhino, giraffes, giant derby eland, buffalo, warthogs, vervet and colobus monkeys are a regular part of the landscape and there is always the rhino-frequented waterhole, which you can view from the excellent Mahogany restaurant and lounge, or while taking a dip in the plunge pool – the perfect place to cool off in the heat of the day, this is a truly wonderful safari hotel and a must stay during your holiday.
The air-conditioned safari tents are masterpieces of gentle luxury and are arranged in pairs at the end of raised walkways. They’re spacious and cool, with wooden floors throughout and offer lovely views of the reserve.
Fathala safari hotel is easily reached from The Gambia and the transfer from Ngala Lodge is approximately three hours including a river crossing of 40 minutes which provides a real insight into African life.
