Discover tranquillity and romance at Ngala Lodge
4 nights (5 nights in summer) | B&B
Award-winning Ngala Lodge is situated between the coastal resorts of Bakau and Fajara, and over the years, it has gained a well-deserved reputation for excellent standards and service. As a child-free property, the palm-filled tropical gardens remain peaceful throughout the day, with ample space to find your own secluded spot in which to enjoy a relaxing drink and your favourite book. Plus, you’ll discover several bird feeding points dotted throughout the grounds, to ensure that local wildlife can also easily be enjoyed.
Further to the stunning gardens, allow yourself to be enticed by the beachside decking area or the two inviting swimming pools, including an infinity pool that seems to merge with the Atlantic Ocean, providing the perfect place for a refreshing dip in the afternoon sunshine.
One of the most rewarding features of any stay at Ngala Lodge can be found in sampling the delicious dishes dreamt up by the chef team in the renowned on-site restaurant. It is like a glimpse into West Africa’s past, where rhino, giraffes, giant derby eland, buffalo, warthogs, vervet and colobus monkeys are a regular part of the landscape and there is always the rhino-frequented waterhole, which you can view from the excellent Mahogany restaurant and lounge, or while taking a dip in the plunge pool – the perfect place to cool off in the heat of the day.
The air-conditioned safari tents are masterpieces of gentle luxury and are arranged in pairs at the end of raised walkways. They’re spacious and cool, with wooden floors throughout and offer lovely views of the reserve.
This property is easily reached from The Gambia and the transfer from Ngala Lodge is approximately 3 hours including a river crossing of 40 minutes which provides a real insight into African life.
