Palm Beach Resort & Spa

Senegal - Saly & La Somone  |  Saly

Our Expert Opinion

"A wonderful addition to our programme in Northern Senegal, with a fabulous location on the extensive golden sands of Saly beach"

- Karen, Commercial

What we love

  • A choice of two pools plus the beach ensure there is plenty of room to relax.
  • The beauty treatments on offer in the Spa, along with a sauna and Jacuzzi.

Good to know

  • Our prices are based on half board with an all-inclusive upgrade if you prefer to budget during your stay.
  • Standard rooms do not have a balcony so we recommend upgrading for a small supplement.

Couples and families

The Palm Beach Resort and Spa has plenty to offer for couples and families alike. Occupying an envious spot overlooking the beach, you can indulge in a wide range of activities both on land and water. Choose from tennis, pétanque, windsurfing and water aerobics, to name a few - the animation team will ensure that your holiday is fun filled; alternatively, there is plenty of space to find a quiet spot next to one of the two pools or under a parasol listening to the sound of the waves.

The air-conditioned rooms are described by the hotel, following their extensive upgrade, as being ‘Afro-chic’ and contemporary in style, and offer a wide range of amenities along with a view over either the tropical gardens, pool or ocean. Standard rooms are usually located on the ground floor and do not have a balcony but upgrade options are available.

The cuisine at Palm Beach is a mixture of Senegalese and international specialties; half board dinners will be served as a buffet in the main Baobab Restaurant, while lunch can be enjoyed relaxing in the La Paillote Restaurant directly overlooking the beach. If you select an all-inclusive upgrade as part of your holiday you will have the choice of three bars serving local drinks and a late breakfast may be taken in the beachside restaurant. For night owls there is a nightclub open until 2am.

The resort of Saly is ideally located to enjoy a wide range of local excursions and activities, from golf to quad bikes and birdwatching tours. The town itself borders the extensive beachfront, which was recently replenished to provide a long stretch of golden sand; you can take a stroll to discover a selection of bars and restaurants if you fancy a change of scene.

About the Local Area (Saly)

The resort of Saly is located on the 'Petite Côte', approximately 80 kilometres south of Dakar and 65 kilometres north of the Sine Saloum Delta. Saly is an ideal holiday destination that has long been popular with French and Belgian tourists and as such has a very established feel, with its variety of hotels, palm-fringed sandy beaches, calm clear waters, bars, restaurants, shops and a wide range of activities.

The smaller resort of La Somone is only a short drive from Saly and enjoys an idyllic location beside a stunning lagoon, home to the Réserve de la Somone, a birdwatcher’s paradise. Nearby you can also visit the Bandia Nature Reserve, a small but perfectly formed wildlife park where you can see roaming freely: giraffe, rhino, zebra, ostrich, antelope, buffalo, bush pigs, impala and many other birds and animals. For the more active, both Saly and La Somone have several excellent water sports centres offering a range of activities such as jet-skis, water-skiing, catamarans, kayaks and windsurfing, and several excellent fishing clubs offering world-class deep sea fishing. Quad and buggy tours or horse treks are available in and around the resorts and Saly is home to an attractive 18-hole golf course as well as the Accrobaobab Adventure Park, where you can climb, swing and slide on a series of nets and ropes amongst the baobab trees.
