The Ocean Bay has long been a favourite in The Gambia, combining excellent standards and a friendly atmosphere with a fantastic beachfront location. It has seen ongoing improvements over the last year and is a great choice for couples and families alike.
This popular hotel offers an excellent range of facilities and dining, and is a great choice for anyone looking to simply relax and enjoy the Gambian sunshine. Following extensive renovation work to public areas and restaurants under the new management, Ocean Bay will see improvements for Winter 16/17 to deluxe rooms, with renovated bathrooms.
You cannot fail to be impressed when you enter the stunning galleried lobby area, with stylish wooden beams continuing through into the refurbished Hacienda buffet restaurant. The large swimming pool is the focal point of the hotel and a snack service operates in this area, with an extended menu including the traditional pizzas fresh from the oven that it is known for being put into place. For families there is a shallow area of the pool, as well as a playground, and babysitting can be arranged upon request. The hotel is located next to the extensive Cape Point beach and maintains an area which is well serviced from the beach bar.
Standard rooms are arranged in two-storey buildings, most throughout the gardens and are well equipped. Upgrades to larger deluxe rooms with renovated bathrooms, sleeping up to 3 people and with private balconies, as well as to the even larger suites, are popular and available for a supplement.
Daytime activities include table tennis and other outdoor sporting activities. A massage and beauty centre with Jacuzzi is located close to the pool offering a range of treatments for you to enjoy. After dinner you can enjoy a full programme of evening entertainment in winter with live music, shows and African dance troupes, and occasional entertainment during summer months.
Within the hotel there is a choice of two restaurants, one serving buffet-style breakfast, lunch and dinner, including Gambian delicacies, and the Buddha Restaurant & Lounge serving beautifully presented sushi as well as other Asian dishes, which is in an unrivalled position next to the ocean. Why not try a cocktail from one of the hotel bars, including a refreshing lemongrass iced tea for which the hotel is well known? There are also themed evenings scheduled during winter with entertainment from a live band on the Buddha Restaurant rooftop terrace overlooking the beach.
In the vicinity, there are a couple of other hotels, local bars, small restaurants, shops and a craft market all within easy reach and the popular resort of Kololi is only a 15-minute taxi ride away with a wider offering of bars and eateries.
Please note that a cash-free system within the hotel is in operation so that payment for all services and food/beverages are made via reception - VISA and Mastercard are accepted although there may be charges so cash may be the best option. There are also ATM machines which accept VISA cards close by.
