Kombo Beach Hotel promises a fun, atmospheric and comfortable stay beside the ocean in The Gambia. A wonderful base for couples and families alike, this is a lively hotel with good facilities, excellent cuisine and a superb beachfront setting. There are so many elements to the hotel that are guaranteed to please guests of all ages, from the pool and sandy beach, to the daytime activities.
Whatever your interests, you should find something to suit at Kombo Beach Hotel – during the day, join in with pool games or aerobics, take tennis lessons, do a little birdwatching in the tropical gardens with the resident guide, or treat yourself in the beauty salon.
Relax and unwind in your room
The guest rooms have a light and airy feel, decorated using neutral tones. Set within three-storey buildings amongst the gardens, rooms range from standard through to suites. Their spacious feel is enhanced by the large windows, leading to either a private balcony or patio where you can sit and listen to the ocean. Guests also have a choice of upgraded rooms, including superior and premium rooms which offer a more modern feel with additional facilities. These rooms are very popular, so early booking is recommended.
Food, fun and entertainment
When the evening rolls in, enjoy a fruity cocktail, dine buffet-style or à la carte and listen to the entertainment on offer – each evening holds a completely different musical experience, as well as showcasing regular drumming troupes and cultural dancers. The hotel offers two restaurants and the Barracuda snack bar, serving throughout the day and evening, along with three bars, including a wine bar. Breakfast and themed buffet dinners (for those on half board) are served in the Kudula Restaurant under a canopy or around the pool, while a more intimate atmosphere can be found in The Brasserie with its à la carte menu and daily specials. For a more low key evening, head to Barracuda for an excellent value meal listening to the sound of the waves.
Set in the heart of Kotu
The resort of Kotu with its excellent sandy beach is a popular, quieter alternative to Kololi and there are a couple of other hotels with restaurants open to outside guests, a craft market, beach bars and a small selection of local restaurants. A short walk from the hotel will bring you to Kotu Stream, a perfect spot to enjoy a variety of birdlife.
Steps to going plastic-free
In their first step to go plastic-free Kombo Beach has stopped the sale of any water in plastic bottles. Kombo Beach instead has reusable aluminium bottles available for purchase which can be refilled in any outlet with filtered water - and at half the price of an old plastic bottle of water. Restaurant guests can buy carafes of water for a nominal charge with their meal. Please support this worthwhile initiative.
