The Kombo Beach is a popular and lively hotel with good facilities, excellent cuisine and benefits from a superb beachfront setting at Kotu.
Situated on a great sandy beach, this is a well-established, lively hotel which has a full time entertainment team and plenty of activities throughout the day and evening to keep you occupied. However, with the beach just a few steps away and spacious gardens, there is space to lay back and relax if you prefer.
Whatever your interests, you should find something to suit at the Kombo Beach - during the day you can join in with pool games or aerobics, take tennis lessons or wander around the tropical gardens doing a little birdwatching with the resident guide. If all that sounds too much like hard work, why not pamper yourself with a massage or treatment at the beauty salon? And after a busy day, what better way to unwind than with a drink at the hotel’s beachside Wine Bar, which is one of the best places to watch the sun set whilst enjoying a Julbrew, The Gambia’s locally produced beer. In the evening there is usually entertainment beside the pool with live local bands, themed dinners or dancing.
The rooms are set within three-storey buildings amongst the gardens. Their spacious feel is enhanced by the large picture windows leading to either a private balcony or patio where you can sit and listen to the ocean. Upgraded rooms, including superior rooms which are being refurbished during summer 2016, offer a more modern feel with additional facilities so are very popular and early booking is recommended to ensure your preferred room choice. Ground floor studios face the tennis courts, are open-plan offering kitchen facilities and are ideal for families.
The hotel boasts two restaurants and Barracuda snack bar serving throughout the day and evening, along with two bars for a refreshing drink. Breakfast and buffet dinner (for those on half board) are served in the attractive Kudula Restaurant under a canopy or around the pool, while a more intimate atmosphere can be found in The Brasserie with its à la carte menu and daily specials. The Brasserie also offers a contemporary lunch menu, including a range of hot and cold snacks, ice creams and pizzas throughout the day, which can also be served to you by the pool or on the beach. The Barracuda beachside bar offers daytime drinks, sandwiches and also daily specials from the barbecue and other favorites like fish in foil.
The resort of Kotu with its excellent beach is a popular, quieter alternative to Kololi and there are a couple of other hotels with restaurants open to outside guests, a craft market, beach bars, a small selection of local restaurants. There is also a taxi rank just outside the hotel so it’s easy to get out and about. In close proximity to Kotu stream and the Kotu bridge this is also an ideal area for birdwatchers.
This is a good fun hotel, ideal for families, couples and groups alike. Due to its location, the range of facilities and the range of cuisine on offer, the Kombo Beach is a great choice for all. It continues to hold a Travelife Gold Award for its efforts in sustainable tourism.
