Located close to South Kotu and set directly on the beach, this adult-only, all-inclusive resort was opened in 2019, and makes for the perfect couple’s retreat.

Our Expert Opinion

"The staff here really made an impact with their friendly welcome, and the atmosphere after dark with live music and dancing surrounded by attractive, lit pools was magical."

- Karen, Product Manager

What we love

  • The location directly on the beach dotted with palm trees, not forgetting the beach bar.
  • The swimming pools are a prominent feature of the property, with some rooms having direct access to the water.

Good to know

  • It's adult-only, with no children under 16 allowed in the property.
  • The hotel offers all-inclusive buffet-style dining, but an à la carte menu is also available for an additional charge.
  • All facilities at neighbouring Tamala Beach Resort can be used, including its popular beach restaurant which serves delicious food and drinks.

Idyllic beachfront location

Located close to South Kotu and fronting the golden sands of Kotu Beach, Kalimba Beach Hotel opened in December 2019. Set up as an all-inclusive resort, the hotel offers a friendly welcome with a relaxed programme of activities such as water aerobics and boules with a regular evening entertainment programme offering live music.

Alternatively, choose to relax by the enticing pool running the length of the gardens, or soak up the African sunshine on the sands directly outside the hotel. If a beauty treatment sounds tempting, visit the sister hotel, Tamala Beach, right next door, which has its own spa offering a wide range of treatments for an additional charge, as well as a well-equipped gym.

The rooms are modern with a good range of amenities, combining calming colours with an African twist. For that extra special experience, a number of swim-up rooms are available. When it comes to dining, a buffet with live cooking offers a range of different cuisine options and an outside terrace allows you to enjoy the warm African evenings.

Exploring the local area

The nearby, busier resort of Kololi offers a wide range of places to eat and drink, as well as nightclubs and a craft market, and is only a short taxi ride away.

No children under 16 are allowed.

About the Local Area (South Kotu)

This is a resort area that has developed over the past few years with some new hotels, and a small selection of bars and restaurants. There are a number of popular bars and restaurants including Lebanese and an ice-cream parlour on the road leading down to the beach, along with a couple of beach bars.

The slightly larger resort of Kotu is across Kotu stream, reached via a gentle stroll along the beach or with a short taxi ride. It boasts some popular hotels, with Kombo Beach dominating the beachfront. There's also the quieter charm of Bakotu Hotel and the beautiful gardens of Bungalow Beach Aparthotel. The area also has a busy and boisterous craft market in which you can find batiks and all manner of superb wood carvings. Kotu has a number of good restaurants, alternatively Kololi with its wider choice is just 10 minutes' drive from South Kotu. There's also a golf course nearby.

A wide, sandy beach which is fairly flat and ideal for a walk either down to Kololi or across Kotu stream to the hotels in the neighbouring resort of Kotu.
