Blog > New suites with stunning sea views coming soon to Ngala Lodge

Six beautiful new suites are currently being built at fantastic Ngala Lodge, we focus on the ins and outs of the new designs.

6 beautiful new suites, looking out across the Atlantic Ocean, at Ngala Lodge, an award-winning boutique hotel, featured exclusively in The Gambia Experience’s Luxury Collection.

With Ngala receiving a Feefo customer feedback rating of 100%, repeat bookings are high and the increased capacity is bound to be well received by our guests.

Macondo Suites

Having acquired the lease on a property adjacent to Ngala’s Manor House, the six new Macondo Suites are currently being built together with a new pool. They are set to be a wonderful addition to Ngala Lodge as it approaches its 20th year anniversary (1995 – 2015). All of the new suites will have stunning views looking down the grassed lawn out across the Atlantic. The three ground floor suites will each have their own plunge pool and large terrace, while the three on the first floor will have spacious balconies with the same stunning views. All the rooms will have similar facilities to the Manor Suites and will be slightly larger in size than the Atlantic Suite.

The plunge pools being built

The plunge pool's being built and if you are wondering where the name Macondo comes from, it is a fictional town in the book ‘One Hundred Years of Solitude’ by Colombian author Gabriel García Márquez. This 1967 novel tells the multi-generational story of the Buendía family, whose patriarch, José Arcadio Buendía, founds the town of Macondo in his hope to create Utopia.

New pool

A new infinity pool is also being built, looking out across the ocean. Although relatively narrow, it will have a jet stream, making it ideal for either simply cooling down and relaxing in, as well as for exercising more vigorously.

Ngala Lodge

Ngala Lodge, situated between the resorts of Bakau and Fajara, has gained a well-deserved reputation with our guests over the years. The atmosphere is relaxed and friendly and, being a child-free property, the flower-filled gardens are peaceful throughout the day; you can easily find your own secluded spot in which to enjoy a relaxing drink and a quiet book or a doze. It is the perfect choice for a romantic break and with one of the best restaurants in The Gambia, you’ll find it hard to leave.

A sandy cove can be reached via steep steps for a romantic stroll at low tide and a wooden raised decking area, complete with sunbeds and canopies, also allows guests to enjoy the beachfront location at high tide.
