12 May 2008 - The Gambia Experience - Press Office
The Gambia Experience (www.gambia.co.uk), the UK’s only specialist to The Gambia, has extended its range of special interest holidays to now include Photography Workshop Tours.
The tour operator has joined forces with Focus-Gambia (www.focus-gambia.co.uk), a company which twins professional photographers with vibrant photo-rich destinations, in turn devising expert-led holiday itineraries perfectly suited to both beginner and budding professional photographers.
Photography Workshop Tours will operate on selected dates throughout May – October 2008.
A forthcoming workshop is due to depart on 20 June 2008, with places still available. The trip is of a 7-night duration with a photographic tour / workshop taking place every other day (3 days in total). This enables those attending to balance learning with their own personal holiday time.
The 20 June Workshop will be led by professional photographer Mark Bauer (www.markbauerphotography.com), well known in the south-west of England. (Other Photo Tour dates to be led by the same photographer include 30 September 2008 departure, again for 7 nights)
The Gambia is abundant in photographic potential. The non-tourist areas and discovering the culture, scenery and wildlife of authentic Gambia, dominated by the majestic river of the same name, will be the focus of the workshops.
The itineraries are designed to maximise photographic opportunities and will include at least one dawn shoot, returning to Ngala Lodge for a shower / swim and leisurely breakfast, before setting out again.
Similarly, certain tours may incorporate a dusk shoot to achieve that perfect point of contrast.
The boutique hotel and former colonial mansion Ngala Lodge, as featured exclusively in The Gambia Experience Luxury Collection, is the formal hotel partner for the Photography Workshops.
Situated just outside Bakau, a bustling African town, facilities at this intimate, elevated, cliff-top property include private tropical gardens, a swimming pool, access to a secluded beach and the acclaimed Ngala Lodge Restaurant.
The Photography Workshops are also being supported by WESSEX Photographic; four photography shops in the county of Dorset who will work in conjunction with Focus-Gambia by running competitions and offering special printing discounts to those attending The Gambia trips.
Prices start at £965 per person for participation in the 20 June Workshop.
This price breaks down to £650 per person for 7 nights accommodation at Ngala Lodge, including return flights from London Gatwick, taxes and transfers (please note that the accomm is on a B&B basis, however evening meals are included at Ngala Lodge on the 3 nights of the Photographic Tours).
A cost of £315 is attributed to the Photography Workshop Tours, which includes transportation and a guide (in addition to the professional photographer).
