Located by the water, near Fimela in the Sine Saloum Delta, Souimanga Lodge offers exclusive, comfortable accommodation in a picturesque, tranquil setting.
The Lodge, which opened in 2007, is small but perfectly formed with the emphasis on ensuring guests are well looked after and receive personal attention; with only a small number of guests, nothing is ever too much trouble. The five air-conditioned lodges are nestled amongst the trees and colourful, flowering plants, each individually and beautifully decorated to a high standard with African style furnishings, fabrics and ornaments. The stylish bathrooms have twin basins, a large walk-in shower and ample wardrobe space and the large picture windows open on to private decking areas where you can sunbathe, sit and take in the unspoilt views across the gardens, the pool and the river or even enjoy a private breakfast or dinner.
The small, infinity swimming pool benefits from views over the water where you can relax in comfort on cushioned sun-beds under the shade of the trees and the umbrellas. Only a short walk away is the bar for a cooling drink. The adjacent restaurant serves excellent, freshly cooked food, which is served in style either inside the restaurant or on one of the terraces. You can even enjoy a romantic, private meal on the covered terrace at the end of the Lodge’s private jetty. A recent addition has been the massage suite, constructed over the water and reached by its own jetty, where you and a partner can enjoy a therapeutic massage whilst also being lulled into a relaxed state by the breezes off the water and the blissful peace and beauty of the natural setting.
Whilst the atmosphere at Souimanga Lodge is peaceful and calming, you can also venture out and explore the local area on one of the excursions on offer, whether by boat, horse-drawn buggy or by car, or go fishing along the local rivers. Bird-watchers will be in their element, with so many colourful species available both at the Lodge and in the surrounding area.
