On 18th February The Gambia will celebrate its Independence Day. The Gambia officially gained independence from Britain in 1965 after 300 years of colonial rule. The day is a national holiday in The Gambia and across the world Gambians will be marking the occasion.
The event is usually celebrated in front of President Jammeh in McCarthy Square in The Gambia’s capital Banjul with a parade by school children, teachers, civil servants and the army.
