For the first time, hotels in The Gambia have been awarded official star ratings by The Gambia Tourism Authority (GTA). In a ceremony earlier this week the first three hotels to receive their star ratings were announced. The Ocean Bay Hotel and Sheraton Gambia Hotel have each been awarded five stars whilst the Sunset Beach Hotel received a three-star rating. The new classification system has five star ratings, from 1* to 5*, with separate classification for boutique hotels.
