The Gambia marked Remembrance Day with a march in July 22nd Square in Banjul; the armed security services, The Gambia legion and other voluntary organisations all participated. The two-minute silence was observed and there were two rounds of gun fire, as well as wreathes laid to remember the soldiers who have been injured or lost their lives in war. Elders who fought in the Second World War, the Gambia Red Cross, the Girls’ Association and the Scout Band were also all present at the event on Sunday 8th November.
