Declared Gambia's third largest bank in 2006, Guaranty Trust Bank has recorded over 100 per cent growth in 2007.
According to Amadou Samba, chairman of the Board of Directors of GT Bank, the Gambian corporation, which was the first African Bank to figure on the London Stock Exchange, is likely to continue to be "a pace setter in the Gambian banking industry".
Mr Samba has also told the Daily Observer that Gambia's number three bank, which has recently received the Bank of the Year award in an event organised by the Nigerian paper called Vanguard Newspaper, currently runs seven branches throughout the country and is looking to expand its network to all major towns and villages.
Mr Samba further explained that Guaranty Trust Bank was the first African commercial bank to fully operate in the UK capital.
Among the latest services introduced by the Bank figure the Electronic Notification Service and ATMs with integrated balance checking functions, added Olaletean Sanusi, managing director at GT Bank.
