The Gambia's university is constantly growing and keeps developing international programmes with foreign universities.
Sixty-five students will pursue further studies in Venezuela as part of an agreement on cooperation between the two countries.
Students will follow classes in sciences, engineering, medics and technology. They have been selected through a competition in Banjul to win the scholarship offered by the Venezuelan government.
This is not the first time students from the Gambia's university travel abroad on a scholarship. Last year, Taiwan successfully hosted many students.
The Gambian president Jammeh gave each student a laptop and 500 dollars in a ceremony that was broadcasted on TV. He advised them to work hard and maintain the good image of their country's educational system.
