The Gambia is to enjoy an even greater choice of internet providers as the communication company EffectPro intends to install an unlimited wireless connection in various areas across the capital.
The project, which was made in collaboration with Aleutia Limited, will use a wireless mesh networking technology which, according to its managing director, Mr Mike Rosenberg, will allow one line to be taken and distributed wirelessly over a large area.
Simple weatherproof routers will be installed on roof tops or existing mobile phone masts to cover an area of up to 20 km when using large antennas, the Daily Observer reports.
"Connecting to their dedicated lease line will provide better quality services than a residential or business broadband connection would," Mr Rosenberg added.
Banjul's new wireless network represents a considerable improvement in the field of communication and will certainly be appreciated by all visitors, from tourists to property investors looking to buy in the country.
