The Western African country held its first Gambian Talents Award last weekend at the five-star hotel and resort Kairaba Beach Hotel on Kololi beach.
Twenty Gambian artists, singers, musicians and sportsmen were given awards during the event which was organised by UK-based Joluv Arts and US-based Gambia Talents Promotions.
Among the winners featured the under-20 football national team, Martin Luther King's "Hello Mammia" as the hip-hop song of the year, and Pa Modou Faal, journalist at the Point newspaper who was awarded journalist of the year.
Live performances given by Gambian famous artists transformed the event into a major success as the likes of Joloffman, Pa Omar Jack, Sambou Suso, Jalex, Oumie Ngum, Singateh, Dr Olugander and many others treated the public with their best songs.
Saul Sowe, managing director of Joluv Arts told the Daily Observer: "Basically, the time is right for all Gambian to appreciate the work of Gambian talents and to cherish their contributions both nationally and internationally.
"This award night is to say thank you and to say keep up Gambian talents."
