American magazine Port of Harlem will be available in the Gambia from this month at the National Library, the University and Timbooktoo bookshop in Fajara.
Port of Harlem's publisher Wayne A Young's visit to the Gambia last weekend saw many writers, literature lovers, and Pan-Africans join the event, reported Foroyaa newspaper.
The publication is a pan-African magazine presenting a wide range of subjects from history to travel, and always focusing on Black culture.
Now in its 30th year, the magazine also supports a number of humanitarian actions across the world, including in the Gambia.
Among the various ongoing projects, readers can participate in a child's education fees, as well as give donations to the National Museum and National Library.
The magazine also supports the Port of Harlem Soccer Team and the Pen Pal Program aiming at bringing African children on both sides of the Atlantic closer to one another.
Finally, Port of Harlem also organises trips to the Gambia on a yearly basis, offering both typical tourist pleasures and cultural contacts with local people.
