Gambia is preparing for the launch of the first ever Gambian One Spirit National Music Awards to be held in the country.
Planned for January 19th in the Jama Hall, Kairaba Beach Hotel, the event will be a major boost for the Gambian music scene and should also see some of the country's top music stars attending the event.
The Gambia Radio and Television Services (GRTS), which has organised the event in conjunction with Champion Sound Promotions, has released the final list of nominees for the awards and votes are now being taken for the candidates.
Among the artists up for awards are Jennifer Cooker and Amie Dibba for Best International Gambia Female Solo Artist, Born Africans and X Soldiers for Best Outstanding International Group, and Amie Cherry and Phill Marshall in the Radio Presenter Achievement Award category.
It is hoped that the awards will help to raise th profile of Gambian music and reward those who have exceptional contributions to the music industry in Gambia.
