A new dance school is to open in the Tranquillity Resort just south of Banjul, it has emerged.
The Gambia School of Cultural Music and Dance aims to offer visitors the opportunity to experience its traditional music and dances - a huge part of Gambian culture.
The establishment is to start early next year and groups will be limited to 20 people maximum.
Manager Flora Ogberenovien told Foroyaa newspaper that students will also visit historical sites and villages such as James Island as part of the course.
The resort, which is located in between Tanji fishing port and its bird reserve in the South and Banjul International Airport in the North, is also walking distance to the beach.
People staying at the resort can also organise various trips around the country, including trips to the Gambia River.
Ms Ogberenovien told Foroyaa newspaper that her resort was entirely committed to promoting responsible tourism in the country as well as helping local Gambian communities.
According to accessgambia.com, more than 100,000 visitors come to the western African country each year. The Gambia enjoys year round sunshine, with temperatures averaging 24 degrees Celsius in December.
