Gambia's secretary of state for tourism and culture, Angela Colley, has returned to Banjul from London, where she attended the second largest travel exhibition in the world.
Ms Colley had been leading a delegation of staff from the Department of State for Tourism and Culture, the Gambia Tourism Authority and figures from the tourist industry, to this year's World Travel Market.
As reported by the Point, delegates from Nigeria, Ghana and the Gambia resolved to work together to promote and market the west African sub-region and also encourage leisure travel between the countries.
Among the activities at the four-day networking event was a ministerial conference on climate change and tourism, which was jointly run by the United Nations World Tourism Organisation and west African tourism ministers.
The result was the Davos Declaration, which encourages the introduction of education and awareness programmes for all tourism stakeholders as well as consumers.
