Two of the fiercest rivals in Gambian football are preparing to battle it out at the Serrekunda East playing grounds.
Banjul and Bakau meet today in the Zonal/Super Nawettan competition, reports allAfrica.com.
Banjul, also known as The City Boys, fell at the first hurdle last year, losing 4-0 in their first match with Sukuta and will be anxious to prove their mettle.
Meanwhile, Bakau also have something to prove, having failed to make the final last year after a 1-0 defeat to Brikama in the semi-final stage.
Ebou Faye, secretary general of the Banjul Sport Committee, said: "The problem of Banjul over [recent] years is that we had players who either play in the second division or no divisional [football at all].
"But this year the backbone of the team is made of first division players. So we are hopeful that we will have a good side, it is just a question of the team doing well in [our] first match which will determine the course of [our progress]."
Today's other matches include defending champion Serrekunda West against Lamin.
