Plans have been laid down for a spectacular acoustic gala dinner at the Paradise Suites Hotel in Gambia on November 24th.
The gala is being held to raise money for President Yabya Jammeh's HIV/AIDS Trust Fund.
The president will be the guest of honour and star speaker, with support from Neneh Macdouall-Gaye, the vice president and secretary of state for women's affairs, The Point reports.
Thione Balago Seck, Baba Maal, Yandeh Kodou Saine, Samba Jebereh Samba and Ma Awa Kuyateh are among the musicians who will perform at the event.
Norway's DJ Little Sisqo will preside over Goudi Ndanaan, or Night of Superstars.
It is hoped the show will revitalise Gambian folk music. Mabou Touray, Proprietor of Sound City, said: "The erosion of such a class of music in Senegambian showbiz places our cultural heritage at a disadvantage."
Mr Touray said he was happy to support President Jammeh's 'Breakthrough' in its bid to find a therapy for HIV/AIDS.
