In Gambia news, the country's appeal as a holiday destination has been highlighted by a major UK airport.
The Gambia Experience, TTG Travel Company of the Year 2007, is offering customers Tuesday and Friday flights this winter from East Midlands Airport (EMA).
From this year, passengers can combine luxury spa hotels with adventure tours including spectacular bird watching tours on the River Gambia and Chimp Island.
Penny Coates, EMA managing director said: "The Gambia is one of the airport's most popular winter destinations and is a welcome return to the airport's portfolio for 2007/8. With more flexibility and a greater choice of luxury hotels, this beautiful destination is sure to have another successful season."
The Gambia is one of the smallest countries in Africa, situated on the unspoilt west coast.
Less than six hours away from the UK, the country is in the same time zone but with temperatures in the 30s.
