Gambia Multi Centres
Each of the properties we feature in The Gambia has unique appeal thanks to its location and atmosphere - a twin or multi-centre stay provides the opportunity to experience more than one area of the country or style of property.
The most popular options are combining a hotel on the beach with a few days at one of the Unique Collection lodges, such as, Mandina Lodges, to experience the culture and wildlife of The Gambia. However, we are finding that an increasing number of holidaymakers are choosing tailormade holidays of two or more Unique Collection properties as transfers by both road and boat are relatively short. Virtually any combination of hotels is possible; take a look at our suggestions below or contact our team who will be happy to discuss ideas and advise you of the most appropriate itineraries based on their own personal experience and knowledge.
Boutique & Unique Lodges
Perfect for couples looking for a romantic holiday by spending a week relaxing at the boutique Ngala Lodge, a child-free hotel which is renowned for excellent cuisine, personal service and peaceful surroundings.Followed by a stay at unique Mandina Lodges to experience birdlife and peacefulness of the River location; take advantage of the expert guides provided, to explore the forest and mangroves on foot or by canoe. In the evening, dinner is served al fresco in one of the wooden or tented dining areas, and sometimes the fire is lit with the dancing flames creating a magical mood.
The Coast and the African Bush
A great introduction to all that The Gambia has to offer. Enjoy a week at one of the country’s most popular hotel, The Kairaba, relaxing in the spacious gardens, taking afternoon tea on the terrace and soaking up the rays on the beach before heading to Mandina Lodges, part of our Unique Collection where you can stay in a lodge set amongst the trees beside the river or actually floating on the water. During the three days here there’s the opportunity to take canoe trips through the mangroves, take guided walks through the forest and visit the nearby villages included those painted by street artists during the Wide Open Walls Project - find out more.
As featured on Channel 4’s Holiday Hijack
The Gambia was featured on the Channel 4 programme Holiday Hijack in which four ‘unsuspecting’ holidaymakers were taken from their luxurious accommodation and shown the realities of every day life in the country. We’ve had a lot of interest from customers wanting to learn about sustainable tourism and with this holiday you can experience the luxury of Coco Ocean and then stay at Sandele Eco-Retreat and Mandina Lodges both of which offer a high standard of accommodation whilst working with the local communities and minimising their impact on the environment.Based on Tuesday departures. Friday departures would be 4 nights Sandele followed by 3 nights at Mandina.
If you’re looking for a holiday to escape everyday life and truly relax, this could be the perfect holiday for you. The first three days of the holiday are spent at Mandina Lodges where you can enjoy walks through the forest to spot baboons, monkeys and birdlife; take canoe trips along the river; visit the village street art project Wide Open Walls or simply relax by the swimming pool. The next 3 nights you travel upriver to Chimpanzee Rehabilitation Project Camp in the River Gambia National Park where you can view chimpanzees and other wildlife including hippos in their natural habitat. After your stay you will travel by to Sandele Eco-Retreat was built by local craftsmen using sustainable and eco friendly construction techniques, and materials sourced from the surrounding area.Nestled amongst the trees, about 100m from the untouched sandy beach below, which is reached by natural sandy trails, are the 4 airy, spacious unique, individual suites, each benefiting from a private roof terrace and sunbathing area. Whilst there is no swimming pool, there is a plunge pool for every two suites.
