During this two day trip you will have the opportunity to explore villages and the everyday life of the Senegalese people, and soak in Senegal's enchanting scenery and array of wildlife including giraffes, rhino, antelopes, tropical birds, monkeys and baboons.
Excursion Day 1
The day starts with a short journey to Banjul to experience the hustle and bustle of the port before boarding the ferry for the 45 minute ferry crossing to Barra on the northern bank of the River Gambia. Ferry times can be erratic and are often very crowded! A 4 wheel drive then takes you through the bush, visiting some Senegalese villages on the way. After a stop at an 800 year old Kapok tree, which is said to have magical and healing powers, you arrive at Domaine Les Paletuviers Hotel on the edge of the Sine Saloum National Park.
Take time to relax by the poolside and have lunch before going on a three hour boat trip to Sipo Island to experience the everyday life in a fishing village. Return to the hotel for dinner and overnight stay at Domain Les Paletuviers where the accommodation is basic but clean with air-conditioning.
Excursion Day 2
The morning is at your leisure, relax by the pool or take one of the activities available at the hotel including a trip to Reserve de Fathala where you will have the opportunity to see animals such as giraffes, rhino, antelopes or savanna buffalo along with tropical birds, monkeys and baboons. (Other activities are payable locally to the hotel and sightings are not guaranteed).
After lunch at the Domaine Les Paletuviers Hotel it's an easy ride back to the ferry and back into The Gambia.
Please note this excursion will only run from November - April.
