Ida Njai has spent the last 20 years working in the tourism industry and now offers cookery courses at her home in Brufut.  The day starts at the local market buying ingredients before pounding vegetables, preparing and cooking a traditional Gambian meal and finally eating the results with her family. The afternoon consists of taking tea and exchanging cultural ideas.

A really authentic day which is proving popular, please see below some quotes from some of Ida's previous clients:

Customer QuoteCooking with Ida was our favourite day while holidaying in the Gambia. Ida welcomed us into her home, dressed us in clothes designed by her sister then took us to the market to sample the local sights and smells.  We then all cooked the food outdoors with Ida's sister-in-laws who were friendly and used some very interesting cooking techniques... Read more

Customer QuoteA group of us from Leeds University visited Ida's home in March this year and learned how to cook fish yassa.  It was one of the best days we have ever had!  It was such a great experience, we looked fantastic all dressed up and it really added value to the day.  The food was great and it was lovely getting to know Ida's family.

Thank you Ida!  x.Customer Quote

Customer QuoteWe spent a fabulous day with Ida and her family, learning to cook a traditional Gambian dish. We experienced the local fish market to buy the ingredients required for our meal and we were all involved. Enjoyed cooking outside and eating our food with friends, chatting over mint tea and fruit. We want to encourage Ida to do a more intensive course a week of cooking as we enjoyed the day so much. Good luck with all you do and thank you for your hospitality and knowledge.

We hope to see you again.
