The fund
To commemorate our 25 year anniversary this winter, The Gambia Experience has donated £25,000 worth of flights (excluding taxes) and £25,000 worth of funds to UK and Gambian-originating charitable and sustainable projects that are making a positive difference within The Gambia.
Why we are donating
Over the years, we've seen so much change within the country however one thing has remained constant: the ongoing passion and love people feel for this unique African nation. We've long been involved with charitable and sustainable projects in The Gambia (including our own School Development Fund, Community Stove Initiatives plus various sustainable tourism projects). As it is our 25th year working on the smiling coast we saw this as a chance to give something substantial back and to pledge our continued support for The Gambia and its people.
We were inundated with applications and our panel of judges were overwhelmed by the variety of excellent and innovative projects - from adult literacy courses, to supporting the Gambian fire service, bee-keeping programmes to solar lighting projects the spectrum was vast.
