Football Stadium in Bakau

Football is part of The Gambia's lifeblood, and no matter where you go in the country you will always see football shirts of every size and colour, and impromptu matches taking place on dusty fields and roadways. And let's not forget that the Gambian national team is fast improving outfit, with their u20 and u17 sides doing particularly well at the moment...

One visit we heartily recommend to anyone visiting The Gambia is to the national stadium in Bakau. There is a likely to be a game on during your stay, so always ask your local rep about times and the best way to get to the stadium. It's only a short taxi ride and WELL worth your time - the sight of a full stadium and the colour and the noise is quite unforgettable.

We have various football-related posts on our blog, all worth a read - please follow the links below.
